Our technology partner Kontron, a leading global provider of embedded IoT solutions, introduces the new COM Express® Basic Type 6 module COMe-bMT6, which is equipped with state-of-the-art Intel® Core™ Ultra Meteor Lake-H/U processors. This cutting edge processor technology is characterised by the integration of several computing units in one System-on-Chip (SoC), including P-Cores, E-Cores, Intel® Arc™ GPU and Intel® AI Boost with an integrated Neural Processing Unit (NPU).
Processors and architecture
The COMe-bMT6 is based on the 14th Gen Intel® Core™ Ultra Meteor Lake-H/U series and utilises a performance hybrid architecture that supports up to 16 cores (up to 6 P-cores, 8 E-cores and 2 LPE cores). This architecture combines multiple compute units in one System-on-Chip (SoC), including Intel® AI Boost for fast AI and vision processing without an entry-level GPU. This enables data inference, real-time control and AI on a single platform, reducing the need for a separate accelerator and lowering system complexity and cost.
High-performance features
The COMe-bMT6 is equipped with Intel® Arc™ graphics architecture, offering up to 8 Xe cores (128 EUs) and an integrated NPU for dedicated AI acceleration. With up to 96 GB of DDR5 memory, up to 2.5 Gb Ethernet, and optional onboard NVMe SSDs, the module ensures high-energy efficiency data throughput with low latency. This advanced technology is ideal for data-intensive applications.
Applications and use cases
The new processor technology is excellent for applications in machine vision and automation, even in spatially and energy-constrained environments. Users can expect faster results from AI applications, more media streams per device, and long-term availability. Thus, the COMe-bMT6 provides a future-proof solution for demanding IoT and embedded computing requirements.
